Alice and Corny Cornpicker
(Those Golden Ears)

As he sits and dreams in the old shed on the hill,
Corny can hear the breezes of late October as
they rustle the leaves on the ripened stalks of
corn. It has been this way for several weeks
now, with cold nights and warm windy days, and
Corny knows that soon Pete will be coming to
get him ready to go to the field. Together with
Alice they will harvest those long golden ears
that are so important to keep the cows fat and
happy. And Corny  does not have to wait more
than a day or so before he hears Alice's low
steady blat coming up the hill toward the old
shed. Pete is riding on the fender and his young
friend Adam is driving........
